Body Art & Piercing

Tattooing
  • Tattoos may be applied on any part of the body.
  • No one under 18 years of age may be tattooed.
Body Piercing
  • Body piercing includes any body part or tissue except the ears.
  • No one under 16 years of age may be body pierced.
  • Children aged 16 or 17 may be body pierced only if an informed consent form has been signed by his or her parent or legal guardian in the presence of the operator.
Microdermals, Subdermals, Scarification, Branding
  • These procedures are not addressed in the Tattooing and Body Piercing Code and are not inspected or approved under a facility’s tattoo or body piercing license.
Other Information
  • Every artist who wishes to tattoo and/or body pierce must obtain a State of Wisconsin Practitioners license. Information on how to apply for the license can be found here
